PART-TIME TEMPORARY POSITION

The mission of Imani Village is to support empowerment of the underserved and historically disenfranchised residents of the Pullman community and surrounding neighborhoods. Imani Village is committed to lifelong education, health, and economic development.

Imani Works! serves as a Grassroots Education hub for the Illinois Solar for All (ILSFA) program. Grassroots Education organizers must develop comprehensive knowledge of the ILSFA program so they can educate and engage income-eligible community residents and businesses about the benefits of converting from conventional to solar energy in the Washington Heights, Roseland, and Pullman communities. Organizers will assist interested residents in the solar conversion process (as described by ILSFA) as part of a campaign to develop sustainable communities.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Work with other team organizers to engage with community residents, including door-to-door and social media engagement.
• Assist in organizing community meetings, workshops, one on one meetings, and engagement opportunities.
• Engage in creative thinking and problem solving to ensure success of campaign.
• Keep accurate records of individual meetings with community residents.
• Keep up to date with information and new developments related to the program to ensure community members receive accurate and timely information.
• Work with community partner organizations to maximize outreach regarding campaign.
• Report to Lead Organizer on a timely basis all progress, challenges and opportunities related to the campaign.

Organizers will be expected to assist (and may lead) in the following events to support the ILSFA Grassroots Education project as part of their duties:

Requirements:

• Community organizing experience
• Ability to work with community residents, churches, and organizations
• Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, including “one-on-one” interpersonal communications and mobilize constituents.
• Ability to work independently, navigate obstacles, stay organized, discern priorities, set goals, meet competing deadlines, and handle multiple projects as assigned.
