JOB SUMMARY:

As an employee of Trinity Health System, it is the responsibility of this and all positions within the Hospital to support the mission and role of Trinity Health System. In addition, this position will actively support the Hospital's Strategic Plan in the areas of People, Service, Quality, Finance and Growth in a team based environment. The employee also performs all job duties in compliance with laws and regulation in the observance of accrediting agency standards. The Professional Practice and Education Manager works to facilitate and/or lead professional practice & development of assigned projects. A higher degree of professional competency & autonomy will be demonstrated in performing the roles of 1) consultant/collaborator, 2) change agent, 3) educator, 4) coach/mentor, and 5) researcher. Oversees and coordinates the orientation of new nursing employees and the further development of current employees. The Professional Practice and Education Manager Nurse Educator serves as a role model, consultant and facilitator in planning, implementing and evaluating the educational and other hospital based activities.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

1.  Supports & facilitates the problem solving and decision-making skills of health care providers, the institution and other organizations.
2.  Utilizes principles of communication to facilitate appropriate exchange of information.
3.  Responds to requests for consultation from staff members and directors regarding practice issues.
4. Collaborates with the nurse directors/managers/educators to identify clinical activities to facilitate the professional growth of staff.
5. Serves as a liaison between Education, Human Resources and the nursing division in issues that affect professional practice and facilitates communication across nursing departments.
6. Assists nursing staff with decision making in practice situations.
7. Serves as a patient and family advocate
