Trinity Educare is Hiring a Teacher Assistant (9:30am-6:00pm) Near Spokane, WA

Assistant Teacher

Objective:

Supports and works with the classroom Lead Teacher, is supervised by the Educare Director. Responsible for assisting the classroom Lead Teacher with the general supervision and management of Infant (1 month -12 month old), Waddler (12 month old – 24 month), Toddler (2 year), Preschool (3-4 years old), and Pre-K (4-5 years old) children, assisting the Lead Teacher with the educational program in accordance with Early Achiever.

Educational/ Licensing Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED and have a minim of an ECE Initial Certificate or equivalent as approved.
  • Licensing: Infant CPR/ First Aid, Food Handlers Permit, Background clearance check including fingerprints, TB test, sleep safe training(yearly), child care basics training, recognizing and reporting suspected child abuse training, emergency preparedness training, identifying shaken baby syndrome /abuse head trauma training, serving children experiencing homelessness training, child restraint training (yearly), medication management and administration training. (must have within 30 days of hire and keep up to date) Blood Borne Pathogens (included in orientation class)
  • Diocese staff orientation training
  • Merit: 30 Basic STARS class hours (3 months to accomplish) and then 10 hours STARS training yearly.

Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years old. Have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of the children. Willing to learn and follow the Early Achiever standards.

  • Required to read and write in English
  • Be a mature individual
  • Have knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood
  • Have the ability to conform to an established work schedule
  • Have the ability to communicate in a concise and effective manner
  • Have the ability to understand and follow instructions precisely
  • Ability to work well with children, parents, and co-workers

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, the following:

  • Assist in the directions of the Lead Teachers lesson plan.
  • Supervise the classroom when the Lead Teacher is out of the room.
  • Assist the Lead Teacher in other ways as requested.
  • Help Lead Teacher maintain records of each child’s growth and development (child portfolio).
  • Help Lead Teacher to supervise and promote activities designed to enhance the emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development of children.
  • Treat all children with dignity and respect.
  • Help with the general housekeeping tasks.
  • Supervise all activities to ensure safety at all times
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Participate in work for the improvement of Early Achievers.
  • Help maintain a neat and organized classroom
  • Help children establish good habits of personal hygiene, change diapers and assist with toileting.
  • Maintain a professional attitude.

Physical requirements:

Must have the ability to:

  • Lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Repetitive bending, stretching, and stooping
  • Climb up and down stairs
  • Have mobility required to ensure the safety of the children
  • Work with children on the floor
  • Work outdoors in any variety of weather
  • Have visual and hearing capabilities consistent with Child Care Licensing safety requirements
  • Perform light duty cleaning

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
