Job Overview: This job exists as a position for RCP’s who are certified only, a student enrolled in an approved Respiratory Therapy School, or for graduate RCP who is pursuing RRT status or waiting to take the examiniation to obtain RRT status. RCP technicians who do not obtain the RRT credential within department specified time frames will no longer be eligible to remain in this job category. Under the direction of the Medical Director this practitioner will provide respiratory care in patient care settings appropriate to their level of training and competency - see stipulations identified in the performance measures and standards- . Duties may include the administration of all respiratory care therapeutic modalities, management of mechanical ventilation, and the assessment of effectiveness of therapy administered. The practitioner will participate in such diagnostic activities as ABG procurement and analysis and hemodynamic and other noninvasive monitoring. Job Requirements: Ohio Medical Board Verification of Education form Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) CRT or Ohio Medical Board limited permit in respiratory therapy Cardiopulmonary physiology Other sciences related to respiratory care and relevant pharmacology BLS Job Responsibilities: Performs all necessary documentation, updates work lists, and submits all charges by the end of the shift. Displays proficiency in airway management. Assists in the administration of proficiently a therapy and management of the oxygen titration protocol. Demonstrates proficiency and skill in the provision of treatment and diagnostic modalities -HHN, P&PD, MDI, IPPB, IS, BIPAP, ABGs, PEFR, EKGs, induced sputum - for adolescents and/or adults.
