Position Summary

We are seeking candidates who are passionate about unlocking the value of complex data to improve quality, efficiency, and insights for system test and evaluation. This position involves a wide range of data and analytic tasks across the data lifecycle from test planning through evaluation, blending the disciplines of Data Science, Computer Science, and Software Engineering.

The selected candidate will work at our office in Huntsville with a hybrid of both in office and remote work, with the potential to support at customer sites as well. The person in this role will be responsible for leading and setting the tone for the program’s data and analytics efforts to improve the collection, processing, analysis, and visualization of data to operationalize outputs from test events.

This is an exciting opportunity for a successful applicant to pioneer the application of data science techniques to test and evaluation, modeling and simulation, and experimentation. In this role, the candidate must be able to conceptualize solutions, convey complex topics to a wide range of audiences, define product roadmaps, and apply new technologies to meet emerging customer needs. The candidate must be able to work extensively with cross-functional teams to achieve customer and corporate goals.

What You’ll Do

• Perform quantitative and qualitative data science activities to improve the collection, processing, analysis, and visualization of data to improve test and evaluation over the program lifecycle.
• Develop custom data analytics, machine learning models, and algorithms.
• Support the development and implementation of big data analysis tools and database schemas.
• Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.
• Identify stakeholder, customer, and user needs to design new systems and/or improve existing systems.
• Shape policy and governance of data science, artificial intelligence, and/or machine learning applications.
• Coordinate with program management personnel to prioritize programmatic and technical objectives.
• Duties may include support to the development of technical artifacts, as well as the development of thought-leading white papers, presentations, journal articles, and conference proceedings.
• Overnight travel on an as-needed basis, approximately 10%.
• Additional duties, as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, etc.).
• Possess a strong data science, data engineering, machine learning, and/or artificial intelligence background.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate results from deeply technical topics to non-technical audiences.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
• US citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance.

Desired Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree from an accredited school in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, etc.) with 3 years of relevant experience.
• Adept at working with large data sets to find opportunities for product and process optimization and using models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action.
• Substantial experience using a variety of data analysis methods and tools, using/creating algorithms, and implementing models.
• Experience with leading data science projects from conception to production.
• Experience in software development environments utilizing Agile methodology.
• Experience in the defense sector and/or aviation, space, or missile communities.
• Experience supporting DoD or Army Test and Evaluation communities.
• Active Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI.
