Hourly Wage: $41.27 - $43.45

As an Equipment Operator, you'll be a vital part of our team, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of heavy machinery critical to the success of our projects. Your expertise in maneuvering and managing various heavy equipment will be instrumental in executing tasks with precision and upholding stringent safety standards. From setting and hauling poles to trenching and installing pad-mounted equipment, you'll play a hands-on role in shaping our projects and contributing significantly to the installation and maintenance of overhead and underground electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operates vehicles and other specialized equipment used in electric power line construction and maintenance, such as trencher, backhoe, ground rod driving rig, winch, digger derrick, hole digging machine used in setting and replacing poles, air compressor, and other equipment mounted on digger truck. When assigned to a vehicle, will be responsible for the upkeep and general safety of the vehicle.
  • Services equipment with fuel, oil, grease, fluids, and keeps equipment clean as necessary. Prior to equipment operation each day, inspects and checks tires, lights, signals, brakes, horn, wipers, safety equipment, and all fluids.
  • Loads and unloads trucks, taking into consideration the proper procedures for the placement and security of the load, to provide safe transportation and convenient unloading of materials, poles, and tools and safeguarding damage to materials and poles.
  • Has a thorough knowledge of nomenclature and use of materials commonly used, being able to identify them. Assists in properly reporting the use and return of materials.
  • Transports poles to jobsites safely by properly securing load, such as fastening with winch line, guiding and balancing the pole to the trailer and securing the load; place warning flags on the load.
  • Digs holes for poles and anchors, utilizing hand tools when mechanical digger is unavailable or not practical, taking care to make the hole the right depth, diameter and angle.
  • Assists in framing poles, must know how to assemble units most commonly used with the aid of the spec books.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
