Position summary:

This nurse will direct the clinical and accreditation activities for Tribeca Surgical Suites, a cosmetic surgery OBS space. The Nurse Manager will lead the Nursing Staff and coordinate patient care at the facility.

Attendance Requirements:

The part-time Nurse Manager will be responsible for overseeing the activity of the surgical suites – with a focus on Wednesday and Thursdays (“OR Days’’). During those days, the nurse mgr will primarily serve as the circulating OR nurse for the day. During OR days, the nurse mgr will be the first to arrive in the morning to help with patient check-in and preparation of the rooms. A circulating RN will be responsible for recovery of patients in the PACU. The position is for 2 days a week totalling 20hrs - , with flexible schedule for non-“OR days”.

Primary Responsibilities

• Work with Center Administrator, Medical Director, and Co-Chiefs of Surgery to assure AAAASF accreditation
• Develop clinical, admission, and discharge procedures
• Evaluate patient care and report issues to Medical Director.
• Coordinate, staff and schedule the surgical and anesthesia staff
• Coordinate patient scheduling and manage & report (weekly) scheduling and surgical bookings
• Manage medical supplies and medication inventory
• Fill in as RN circulator/scrub/PACU nurse as needed
• Identify staffing requirements and assist in recruiting, interviewing and hiring.
• Monitor and evaluate staff performance. Manage personnel, ensure proper training, and determine standards of performance recommending promotions and dismissals
• Assure compliance with policies, procedures and regulations pertaining to: Controlled substances and medications, Infection control (will function as the Infection control officer), patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations, CPR, ACLS, Safety and OSHA standards and risk management, Quality improvement and quality assurance , Emergency codes and evacuation, patient scheduling , Ensure Medical Staff is current with charting, consents, clearances, surgical documentation and EMR
• Ensure ORs are ready for current and next day patients (pull instruments, assure disposables available)
• Manage, maintain, and coordinate the maintenance and service of our medical equipment Provide Leadership Staff meetings and performance management

Secondary Responsibilities:

• Work with office administration to assure office supplies/ equipment available
• Assure Center is clean and orderly, properly stocked, and suitable to provide the services
• Maintain a flexible schedule to participate in management, staff and departmental meetings, training sessions and practice events such as open-house events.

Experience and Education:

Bachelor of Nursing Degree with Registered Nurse license, CNOR certification, laser safety certification, BLS, ACLS, and experience in operations management. 2 years’ experience as charge or head nurse within an operating room in a hospital or surgicenter. Must have experience both as a circulating nurse and surgical assistant. Must be computer proficient and be competent in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. (CNOR and laser safety certifications may be obtained within one year of employment.)

The physical demands must be met to successfully perform the essential functions. The employee is regularly required to talk and hear, to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This is a physically active role as a Registered Nurse providing hands-on patient care requiring long periods of time standing moving, and assisting patients.

Language Skills

• Must clearly communicate with patients, vendors, and co-workers in grammatically correct English.
• Must read and interpret documents, schedules, registration materials, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, excel spreadsheets, budgets, and procedure manuals.

Pay: $63,064.52 - $75,948.66 per year
