Overview:
We are seeking a skilled ophthalmic technician to join our team. As an ophthalmic technician, you will play a crucial role in assisting our ophthalmologist in providing eye care to patients.
Duties:
- Preparing patients for examination obtaining patient medical history and performing tests including photography and visual fields.
-prepping patients for procedures and surgeries.
- Assisting in eye surgeries and procedures.
- Maintaining ophthalmic instruments and equipment.
-processing surgical instruments for sterilization.
-tracking and maintaining inventory.
-working up patients and then scribing for the doctor during the visit.
-performing administrative tasks including chart prepping and post op patient calls.
-Giving patient assistance/patient education regarding procedures and surgeries.
-Obtaining prior authorization for medications and/or surgeries.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology.
-Experience in scribing a bonus.
- Familiarity with ophthalmic procedures and terminology.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records systems.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient care protocols.
- Ability to maintain aseptic techniques during procedures.
-Good communication skills with patients and coworkers.
-Experience with aesthetic procedures a bonus.
