Tri-Maxx Industries, LLC is Hiring a Shop Supervisor - Diesel Technician Near Evans, CO

We are looking for a Shop Supervisor to join our team! As a Shop Supervisor, you will be responsible for assisting the Shop Manager with the overall daily operations of the shop, ensuring efficiency and profitability. You will supervise, train, and coordinate the work of mechanics and technicians. Ensures preventative maintenance and repairs meet all quality and safety standards.

The Shop Supervisor reports directly to the Shop Manager. You should have an in-depth understanding of diesel engines, as well as mechanics and engineering in general, and an extensive knowledge of DOT rules and regulations. You will monitor the overall operations of the shop, delegating tasks to the shop personnel, and ensuring the highest quality of service to the customers for their satisfaction.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Consulting with the customer and reading work orders to evaluate the tasks required.
  • Preparing work plans after fully scoping out the issues.
  • Ensuring the availability of parts; researching and ordering parts.
  • Leadership performance assessments and training efforts.
  • Competent computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Tracking time for technicians and submitting hours.
  • Proficient in the use and completion of repair and purchase orders produced by a maintenance management system.
  • Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections (including DOT inspections) and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts.
  • Adhere to an inspection procedure checklist.
  • Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brakes, steering, hydraulics, making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
  • Maintains vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting.
  • Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies and performing preventative maintenance.
  • Enhances maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Conducting field visits in the case of an emergency or sudden breakdown.
  • Test driving repaired vehicles to gauge their performance.
  • Maintaining records of parts inventory and serviced vehicles.
  • Ensuring the cleanliness of the shop.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent (preferred)
  • Diesel engine repair; 5 years (preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license (required)
  • CDL (preferred)
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Some welding experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of a vehicle, its electrical system and the mechanisms of a diesel engine.
  • In-depth knowledge of diesel engine components and operational mechanisms.
  • Knowledge of maintenance tools and repair equipment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to act professionally and with integrity.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Basic knowledge of computer systems and other relevant electronics.
  • Proficiency in the use of diesel engine diagnostic software.
  • Flexible team player, willing to adapt to changes and unafraid of challenges.

Physical Requirements

  • Stand for extended periods of time.
  • Bend or twist body.
  • Kneel, stoop, crouch, or crawl.
  • Repetitive movements.
  • Use of hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds at times.

Job Type: Full-time – Exempt

Salary: $1500 - $1700 per week, depending on experience
