Material Handler – First Shift – Fairfield, OH
You will play a crucial role in the efficient and organized handling of materials within our warehouse operation. Your primary responsibilities include the movement, storage, picking work orders, cycle counts, and organization of goods and materials, as well as maintaining a safe and orderly work environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently move materials, supplies, and products using various equipment and methods, such as forklifts, hand trucks.
- Assist with the receiving, counting, and inspection of incoming materials and products. Update and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Prepare orders by picking, packing, and labeling items for shipment, or assembly ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Maintain a well-organized warehouse by storing materials in their designated locations and ensuring cleanliness and orderliness.
- Follow all safety guidelines, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and report any safety issues or incidents.
- Inspect materials and products for damage or defects and report any issues to supervisors.
- Perform basic maintenance and checks on material handling equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Complete necessary paperwork, including packing lists, inventory reports, and other records.
- Collaborate with team members and other departments to meet the needs of the organization.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills & Abilities
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and perform physically demanding tasks
- Strict adherence to safety protocols and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Willingness to work in a team-oriented environment and follow instructions.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, especially for inventory counting.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee will frequently lift on average 20-30lbs throughout the course of 1 business day. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment can be considered quite loud in certain working environments.
The work environment for a Material Handler is a warehouse assembly and fabrication facility. It will involve exposure to materials-handling equipment, the need to follow safety protocols, and the requirement to lift and move heavy objects.
