Position Description
The Buyout Procurement Specialist role will be responsible for the strategic management of procurement activities and supplier relationships to optimize the value and performance in the acquisition of goods and services for the organization. The Buyout Procurement Specialist will assist in identifying and evaluating bids and purchase orders and maintaining contacts with suppliers to identify the most current availability, quality, and pricing. The Buyout Procurement Specialist will expedite the ordering and delivery process for assigned commodities.
The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical background and exceptional attention to detail and possess good self-management skills, well rounded thinking, confidence, and a collaborative approach to working with others within various departments. A successful candidate will have the ability to work under pressure and tight timelines associated with procurement activities in the Strategic Sourcing department of a rapidly growing company in a fast-moving industry.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
Responsible for managing the procurement of outsourced solutions by ensuring that pricing is aligned with Sourcing strategies and project schedule requirements
Serve as main point of contact for assigned suppliers with respect to purchasing-related issues
Process purchase requisitions and issue purchase orders in accordance with established procurement policies and procedures. Ensure accuracy and completeness of purchase orders and verify pricing, quantities, and delivery schedules
Communicate with suppliers, as needed, to confirm delivery statuses, expedite deliveries, and follow up on any past-due purchase orders
Work closely with the project management and engineering teams to determine project schedule requirements
Work proactively with suppliers to identify, manage, and mitigate risk
Responsible for monitoring and assessing how well the supplier meets or exceeds the expectations and requirements set by the Strategic Sourcing team and organization
Manage and analyze supplier on-time performance and keep in constant communication with suppliers to help improve delivery
Monitor supplier quality performance to identify downward trends and address as needed
Resolve any issues or disputes with suppliers related to pricing, quality, delivery, or other concerns in a timely and effective manner
Responsible for the ongoing process of analyzing performance, identifying opportunities, and making incremental changes to processes and procedures
Participate in ERP system development and implementation to improve effectiveness and efficiency of supplier performance
Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures per guidelines
Increase transparency and communication with multiple departments and suppliers to achieve project financial and schedule requirements
Aid in the development of creative and innovative Strategic Sourcing processes to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement
Maintain a high level of performance in carrying out the goals of the department and the company
Ensure good communications and update records with new and existing suppliers
Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships
Ensure compliance to company guidelines, policies and procedures guidance
Required Skills/ Abilities:
Ability to both manage the day-to-day tactical work of a Procurement Specialist as well as capacity to plan and execute procurement strategies that align with Sourcing’s and the organization’s goals
Ability to work cross functionally within the organization with minimal oversight
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute performance-based solutions is required
Ability to add value by identifying ways to reduce cost and make business improvements and by negotiating favorable terms with suppliers
Demonstrated ability to manage own work load with minimal supervision required
Able to work effectively in a team environment as well as an individual contributor
Experience establishing and maintaining good working relationships with internal and external customers
Strong analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills
Thorough knowledge of supply and demand planning
Understanding of supply chain management principles and practices
Proficiency in Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook and ERP systems, preferably NetSuite
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Working knowledge of MS SharePoint / Teams
Education & Experience :
A bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, engineering, or related field
At least 1-2 years’ experience in procurement or supply chain management in a manufacturing environment
Work EnvironmentThis is primarily a desk-based role, requiring extended periods of sitting and computer use
Remote/hybrid position with approximately 3 days in office per week
Physical RequirementsProlonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Ability to traverse office and manufacturing facility.
