This position is located in our Landscape Services division which offers professional tree care and landscaping services at market rates with the profits supporting other Tree Trust programs including green industry skills and employment-readiness training to youth and young adults, and community forestry initiatives.

From simple projects to complex designs, Landscape Services has the experience to complete tree and landscape projects to the highest standards – on time and on budget.

Job Summary: This position is responsible for assisting the Landscape Construction Supervisor in daily operations involving commercial and residential property landscape construction, quality control, and safety. Assists in the completion of all landscape maintenance and construction projects. Projects include plantings, landscape bed enhancements, patio paver installations, retaining wall construction, accessibility ramp construction etc. This role supports snow removal operations and will also assist our Lawn and Tree Care departments as needed.

What You Will Do:

Essential Functions:

  • Leads and assists in the installation of hardscape, softscape, grading, excavating, carpentry and a wide variety of other landscape projects.
  • Leads and assists in job preparation including loading of tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Helps organize worksites for efficiency and safety; adheres to all Tree Trust safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintains facility grounds by ensuring a well-organized and clean workspace including vehicles, trailers, and equipment.
  • Strictly adhere to Tree Trust’s safety policies and procedures.
  • Receives openly all training including safety, equipment use, technique, etc.
  • Always represents the company’s best interest, maintains the highest level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Maintains a clean and safe job site.
  • Maintains and cares for your personal or company provided equipment, tools, and vehicles.
  • Works as part of a team and takes direction.
  • Understands and meets contract scheduled deadlines without sacrificing great customer service or excellent quality.
  • Keeps accurate timesheet records, submitted for review and signoff by the required deadlines.
  • Assists in general tree care (pruning, removal, vegetation management) during winter months.
  • Assist in snow removal which may include truck, skid and/or snowblower operation.
  • Performs other tasks or projects as assigned/instructed by Tree Trust managers.

Qualifications/Skills Required:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older with a valid driver license and a clean driving record as determined by our insurance carrier.
  • Must have three (3) years of experience installing patios, retaining walls, plants, edging, sod, etc., or equivalent, for a professional landscaping company.
  • Must have three (3) years of experience operating front loaders and excavators, or equivalent.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background and motor vehicle check.
  • Must possess and maintain MN DOT medical certificate within fifteen (15) days of hire.
  • Must possess a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and work well within a team.
  • Must be able to take work direction and work well under pressure within a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Must be teachable, trainable and project a proactive attitude-always looking for the next way to find solutions.
  • Must have strong communication skills and be an effective listener.
  • Must be reliable, possess a positive attitude and be able to work independently.
  • Must be willing to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Punctual and dependable with a can-do attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals of differing backgrounds, knowledge, and skill levels.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Knowledge of horticultural best practices.
  • Carpentry experience.
  • Pesticide applicators license preferred.

Work Environment: — Job will require constantly working outdoors in all types of weather conditions and exposure to elements. This can include heavy to moderate noise, extreme proximity to moving equipment or machinery, proximity to electrical energy, exposure to tools and machines used in construction industries.

Physical demands— Physical demands require constantly moving, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Frequently ascends/descends a ladder to perform work. Frequently operates machinery and will use hands/fingers and legs to operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect and position materials. Frequently required to stand and walk, lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Constantly required to communicate with ability to talk and hear.
