**Department of the Treasury**

This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the Plant Service Branch. As a **Custodial Laborer**, you will be responsible for all activities concerning building and ground maintenance throughout the Bureau.

**Duties**

As a **Custodial Laborer**, you will:

-Clean presses or similar equipment by using scrapers, brushes, and solvents to remove ink and oil. Clean and wax floors using commercial cleaners and industrial cleaning and waxing equipment.

-Clean walls, doors, window ledges, blinds, railings, etc., using the appropriate cleaning agents and techniques.

-Clean restrooms and pull trash in security areas. (i.e. offices, break rooms and sections) Clean and sanitize carpets by mixing proper amounts of cleaning solutions necessary to clean.

-Collect trash from secured offices by picking up and bagging trash and placing it in the appropriate storage or disposal areas**.** Utilize forklift in emptying trash carts that are filled into large dumpster on the loading dock.

-Empty and dump sawdust bins and ensure equipment is not, clogged, and follow appropriate cleaning procedures.

**Physical Requirements:** Move and control heavy equipment, carry and set up ladders and scaffolds, and work from said items. Frequently, lift items weighing about 50 pounds, occasionally lifts items weighing over 50 pounds, and moves loaded handcarts with loads weighing several hundred pounds.

* The facility typically shuts down annually between Christmas and New Year's Day. As such, all BEP employees must take leave for work days during the shutdown period.

**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:**

* A one year probationary period may be required.

* Weekend work and overtime, if applicable, will be scheduled when needed based on production requirements as determined by Management.
