Description Serving over 20,000 active youth, adult, and family members, the West Branch of the Treasure Valley Family YMCA helps members lead a healthier, happier life. Facility amenities and features include six fitness studios, three racquetball courts, full-court basketball gym, youth activity center, climbing wall, 50-meter swimming pool, and training pool.
The
Aquatic Support Staff assists with aquatics duties as assigned and completes training to apply for a Lifeguard or Swim Instructor upon meeting job requirements for that position.
Responsibilities: - Greets and engages participants at assigned program areas.
- Assists with check-in procedures and distribution of written communication to participants as assigned.
- Support Swim Instructor with on deck tasks as assigned.
- Participate in the Aquatics Leaders Club, including curriculum for Swim Instructor and/or Lifeguard Development.
- Participate and complete assigned training (Start Day Trainings, YASA, BLS, BFS, eLearning's, YASA Certification)
- Upon turning 16 years of age, may be asked to support Aquatics operations in water.
- Upon completing Y Aquatics Safety Assistant (YASA) Certification, provide support as assigned;
o Support Swim Testing operations
o Provide land support for swim lessons, bottom of slides and kiddie pools
o Support as defined by YASA during LF drills and emergency situations
o Upon turning 16 years of age complete either or both - Y Swim Lesson Instructor or Y Lifeguard certification.
Qualifications: - Age - Must be 15 years of age or older.
- Must be able to differentiate between colors (Red, yellow, blue and green).
- This position is a temporary position, learning skills to transition to a lifeguard or swim instructor position.
- Must be able to engage others in conversations and make all people feel welcome.
- Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations.
- Must have good interpersonal and communications skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others.
Schedule: This is a part-time position averaging 6-9 hours weekly. Schedule requirements are Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 4:00pm - 7:00pm; Tuesday/Thursday, 4:00pm-7:00pm and Saturday/Sunday, 2:00pm - 6:00pm.
