TRC is growing tremendously and is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer (REMOTE) to join our Integrity Engineering Services team. The ideal candidate must have 10 years of experience with natural gas and RNG pipelines as well as mechanical equipment and materials associated with compressor stations, regulator and meter stations, and storage facilities. A Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desired but not required.

This opportunity is 100% REMOTE that can sit anywhere in the United States or work out of one of our 150 locations nationwide.

Overview

Position is for a senior level mechanical engineer capable of determining specific client requirements and acquiring detailed understanding of the project mechanical and piping design requirements, schedule, and deliverables. This position requires that the incumbent can originate mechanical designs while supervising other engineers. It requires senior level experience and familiarity with natural gas and RNG pipelines as well as mechanical equipment and materials associated with compressor stations, regulator and meter stations, and storage facilities. The incumbent will also have extensive engineering experience with liquids pipelines as well as mechanical equipment and materials associated with petroleum liquids pumping facilities, tank facilities, and terminals.

Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Familiarity with applicable codes such as ASME B31.3, B31.4 and B31.8, DOT Parts 192 and Part 195, and API specifications.
  • Evaluate client requirements and write design basis and scope of mechanical and piping work.
  • Cost-benefit analysis for competing process solutions resulting in robust, cost effective designs.
  • Provide hands-on process engineering while mentoring less experienced engineers.
  • Preparation of various mechanical calculations including piping sizing, control valve and equipment sizing, pressure head calculations, performance flow curves and pipe stress analysis.
  • Trouble-shooting existing systems in the field, determine modifications to existing systems to change performance, etc.
  • Contribute to the refinement of mechanical departmental procedures and company specifications.
  • Utilizes specific software packages including Pipeline Toolbox, CEASAR, ProMax and AutoCAD Light for piping modeling and scenario studies.
  • Prepare mechanical equipment specifications and selection by generating P-ID-s and PFD-s, technical specifications, data sheets, and requests for quotation. Perform Technical analysis of bids and review of vendor drawings. Mechanical Equipment includes compressors, pumps, separators, filters, heat exchangers, condensate storage tanks, dehydration units, heat exchangers, glycol regenerators, chillers, chemical injection units, flares, thermal oxidizers, vapor combustion units and vapor recovery units.
  • Contributes to the development of client proposals and project cost estimates.
  • Engineering/design of process systems for facility/pipeline measurement and control.
Qualifications

EDUCATION:

Bachelor-s degree in mechanical engineering from accredited college or university.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum experience required is 10 years.

LICENSING:

Licensing as a professional engineer is desired.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Requires excellent oral communication skills in English.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate in speech and writing to other team members and client personnel.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Mathematical skills required for completion of a Bachelor-s degree in engineering.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Able to identify problems and develop solutions.
  • Able to make decisions on specific project items which will promote the achievement of overall project objectives.
  • Able to view problems form many different sides to develop the best overall solution.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are a must.
  • Strong attention to details.
  • Ability to supervise and manage subordinate engineers and CADD personnel.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, occasionally in excess of a normal 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. schedule.
  • Ability to travel freely within the United States and internationally as dictated by project requirements.
