TRB + Associates Inc. is Hiring a Code Enforcement Inspector Near Salinas, CA

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performing a variety of field and office work in support of local agency Code Enforcement, Neighborhood Preservation, and/or Housing programs.
  • Enforcing compliance with agency regulations and ordinances including those pertaining to zoning, land use, nuisance housing, building codes, health and safety, blight, graffiti, water waste, and other matters.
  • Responding to complaints and reports from other agencies and departments on alleged violations of agency zoning and related municipal codes and ordinances; conduct investigations and provide recommendations for resolution.
  • Conducting field investigations; inspecting properties for violations; issuing and posting warning notices, notices of violation, corrective notices, orders to comply, and related documentation for code violations; scheduling and performing follow-up functions to gain compliance including letters, inspections, calls, meetings, discussions, and negotiations to ensure compliance with appropriate codes and ordinances.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and case files on investigations, inspections, enforcement actions, and other job-related activities including accurate and detailed information regarding code enforcement activity to substantiate violations; drawing diagrams and illustrations and taking photographs.
  • Preparing written reports, memos, and correspondence related to enforcement activities.
  • Serving as a resource to other agency departments, divisions, the general public, and outside agencies in the enforcement of zoning regulations; providing research and documentation for meetings; interpreting and explaining municipal codes and ordinances to members of the general public, contractors, business owners, and other interested groups in the field, over the counter, and on the telephone.
  • Providing Housing Quality Standards (HQS) inspections as defined by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), which may include conducting annual, initial, re-inspection, and special HQS inspections for Section 8 dwelling units, and completing the requisite HUD 52580 forms.
  • Being able to identify violation(s) accurately and document and resolve in positive relationship environment.
  • Explain and answer client questions regarding review and inspection findings.
  • Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary, Contract

Pay: $45.00 - $65.00 per year
