Trash Tech is Hiring a Director of Operations Near Castle, DE

Summary
The Director of Operations is responsible for all aspects of residential, commercial, and industrial operations, including but not limited to driver hiring and discipline, driver check in, pre-trip inspections, diagnosis of damage to equipment caused by driver abuse, recovery of missed pickups and customer liaison due to service failures. The Director of Operations is also responsible for rerouting of existing routes to maximize productivity and balancing of routes
Essential Functions

  • Employee hiring, training, and discipline.
  • Overseeing and Managing Driver check-in and pre-trip inspections
  • Conduct monthly Safety meetings for all company employees.
  • Residential, Commercial, and industrial routing/ route analyzing.
  • Overseeing first resolution for Residential, Commercial and Industrial service-related issues
  • Oversight of container delivery for all lines of business including daily container delivery routes.
  • Overseeing and managing the movement of containers in the yard, as well as, perform container inventories.
  • DOT Compliance (driver compliance, administration, and audit)
  • Monitoring driver qualification files and the hiring and selection process
  • Reviewing hours of service records for accuracy
  • Assuring DOT drug / alcohol program is compliant with regulations
  • Assure in vehicle driver training is completed with every active driver
  • Assure vehicle inspection hands on training is completed with every active driver
  • Review accident file contents for accuracy and documents needed
  • Gatekeeper for accident preventable decisions
  • Assure proper accountability is delivered for preventable accidents
Supervisory Responsibility
This position directly supervises all aspects of the daily collection’s operations team, safety and service of existing customers.
Work Environment
This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Position requires also operating in a Waste Collection Vehicle to perform Route Audits, verify safe operations of all company vehicles.
Physical Demands
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand, as necessary.
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent work experience in waste hauling industry for 5 or more years.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state safety laws, particularly FMCSR & OSHA standards.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • CDL preferred but not required
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Ideal candidate has previously operated, has a clear knowledge of the operating capabilities, or currently has a CDL to operate a waste collection vehicle.
  • Analysis and identification of risk trends, problems and solutions.
  • Ability to plan and execute events, safety meetings, accident review meetings, and safety celebrations.
  • Develop and communicate informative presentations and strategies for stakeholders and managers to gain understanding and consensus.
