Job Summary The primary responsibility of the Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is to ensure that our supplier processes are in place and validated to ensure products and services arrive on our rig defect free. The SQE is responsible to assist in the resolution of our supplier’s equipment or service quality defects. The SQE role will be to participate in improving equipment reliability at any stage of the equipment lifecycle including but not limited to functional design specification, engineering design, product realization, and initial stages of use on our rigs. The SQE shall have a working knowledge of Transocean equipment specifications, OEM specifications, industry codes / standards, quality control methodology, and manufacturing techniques. Such codes include but not limited to ASME, ASNT, CWI, NACE, NORSOK, DNV, etc. Leveraging from the extensive manufacturing background, the SQE will assist with technical inquiries from various intercompany departments such as Operations, Technical Services, Engineering, Reliability, Supply Chain, Category Managers, Projects, and New Build organizations. SQE must have a good knowledge and experience in QMS audits as per ISO 9001 and API Q1. When required, it is the responsibility of the SQE to work on technical support teams with our customers. This role is required to perform current and potential critical supplier QMS and Technical audit (Special Processes- Welding/NDE/Heat Treatment/ Coating/Painting), failure investigations, equipment qualifications, and assist in problem solving. Job Description Key Roles & Responsibilities: Equipment or Services equipment failure resolution and Nonconformance management Manages Pre-production Kick Off Meetings (PPKOM) with Suppliers and 3rd Party (DNV/ABS) Leadership role with OEM’s – Manages OEMs and Key Performance Indicators, Improvement Plans, etc. Critical Supplier Development- QMS & Technical Auditing, Supplier Qualification Support Internal Departments within Transocean Travel can be up to but not limited to 25% Education: Bachelor’s Degree - Applied Science Experience: Minimum 8-10 years' work experience with equipment manufacturing, quality, fabrication application, and inspection methodologies and QMS auditing. Skills: Minimum Required: Working knowledge and understanding of manufacturing / fabrication processes that include mechanical equipment, preventative maintenance, general metallurgy, welding, marine drilling industry and relevant oilfield equipment (blowout preventers, well control systems and equipment, diverters, marine drilling risers, etc.) is preferred. Demonstrate working knowledge in the designated discipline and possess organizational skills to multitask multiple projects. Must have excellence written, oral, and presentation communication skills. Working knowledge of Supplier management and development through scorecards, Key performance indicators, and improvement plans. Candidate must have a good knowledge and experience in QMS Audits as per ISO 9001 and API Q1. General knowledge of six sigma and Lean improvement methodologies and knowledge of Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC), American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), Det Norske Veritas (DNV) rules as well as American Petroleum Institute (API), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American welding Society (AWS), Norsok and National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) applicable standards. Preferred: To excel in a role requiring expert level knowledge in manufacturing and fabrication processes, quality management system within the marine drilling industry, as well as associated disciplines, the candidate should demonstrate proficiency and experience in the following areas: 1. Technical Expertise: Good knowledge of OEM Equipment (Well Control and Top-Side, Drill Ships) and Mechanical systems used in manufacturing and marine drilling. 2. General Metallurgy: Good knowledge and understanding of material properties, heat treatment processes, and failure analysis including testing of materials as per various Industry Specification and Codes and Standards. 3. Welding: Proficiency in various welding techniques and standards (ASME, AWS, DNV, ISO). Knowledge of welding processes suitable Marine Drilling Industry and Oilfield Equipment such as: Blowout preventers (BOPs), Well control systems and equipment, Diverters, Marine drilling risers, Top Side Equipment. Ability to review WPS/ WPQ and PQRs as per Industry Standards. Candidate with CWI and similar certification will be preferred. 4. NDE, Coating, Painting: Good knowledge (Level II NDE expertise level) in NDE techniques, their use and various methods. Candidate with ASNT (NDE) and/ or NACE certification will be preferred. 5. Organization and Communication Skills: Multitasking and Project Management: Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Strong organizational skills to manage timelines, resources, and priorities effectively. Excellence in written, oral, and presentation communication. Ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely to different stakeholders. 6. Supplier Management: Supplier Management and Development: Experience in managing supplier relationships and performance through Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Develop and review of supplier Inspection Test Plans. 7.Supplier Nonconformance Management: Ensure effective and timely closure of critical supplier NCR by identifying a root cause and corrective actions, closing them effectively ensuring reliability and quality assurance of products and services. 8. Quality Management Systems (QMS): Expert knowledge and experience in conducting QMS audits according to ISO 9001 and API Q1 standards. Implementation of quality assurance processes and procedures to ensure compliance and continuous improvement. (IRCA or CQA Certificate will be preferred). 9. Improvement Methodologies: Root Cause Analysis Techniques, Six Sigma and Lean methodologies. Candidate with RCA Certification will be advantageous. 10. Industry Standards: Good knowledge of Industry Standards and Regulations from various organizations including Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) Det Norske Veritas (DNV) American Petroleum Institute (API) American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) American Welding Society (AWS) Norsok, National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE). 11. Additional Skills and Experience: Hands-on Experience: Practical experience in the field/ manufacturing shop to complement theoretical knowledge. 12. Problem-solving Abilities: Strong analytical skills to address and resolve technical challenges. 13.Continuous Learning: Commitment to staying updated with the latest industry trends and technologies. Pre-Requisite/ Qualification: Must successfully complete pre-employment drug screen. Must successfully complete pre-employment background check.
