TRANSITIONS HEALTHCARE CAPITOL CITY LLC is Hiring a PTA - Physical Therapist Assistant Near Washington, DC

Job Description

General Purpose: A qualified individual who can perform the essential job functions of this position with or without accommodation. The individual’s primary purpose in this position is to be responsible for direct resident care by administering the therapy outlined in the plan of care to restore function, alleviate pain and prevent disabilities.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Administration of physical therapy treatments to residents as outlined by the physician’s orders and the plan of care established by the Physical Therapist.
  • Reports information related to the Physical Therapist regarding the resident’s progress, complications and/or response to treatment.
  • Assist the Physical Therapist in performing procedures, tests, and complex treatments to ensure the safe and effective evaluation and treatment of residents.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all resident, facility, and physician-related information.
  • Maintains accurate billing information in accordance with procedures on a daily basis.
  • Attends and participates in interdisciplinary meetings as appropriate to relay clinical findings and recommendations to other members of the rehab team.
  • Attends and participates in family meetings as appropriate.
  • Adheres to documentation requirements of the Rehabilitation Department and the facility.
  • Expected to meet productivity standards as established by the Director of Rehabilitation Services.
  • Attend in-service/educational programs in accordance with Company and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to push/pull equipment weighing in excess of 50 pounds using proper techniques and with assistance as necessary. Be able to sit, bend, and stoop. Stand and/or walk for six (6) hours or more daily. Sit and keyboard for two (2) hours or more daily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
  • Position responsibilities may require an adjusted work schedule, overtime and evening or weekend hours to meet the facility’s needs
  • Ability to read, write and understand the English language.
  • Assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
  • Meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of the Company, which may include medical and physical examinations.
  • Perform other duties as directed by Director of Rehabilitation Services and the Administrator.
  • Abide by the Absenteeism Policy as set forth in the Employee Handbook.

Other Duties/Responsibilities/Position Requirements:

  • Comply with Employee Handbook, Facility Compliance Program, Code of Conduct, comply with Resident Rights, comply with Resident Abuse/Abuse Reporting regarding abuse, neglect and misappropriation, Universal Precautions, Exposure Control Plans, Safety, Hazards Communication, Fire & Disaster and Evacuation, HIPAA/Confidentiality policies and procedures regarding resident and facility records/information, and all other Company policies and procedures.
  • Be organized and detailed, efficient, and accurate in work performance.
  • Possess and display proper communication skills which exude patience, self-discipline, and customer service skills.
  • Function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.
  • Possess and display a genuine caring for, and interest in, maintaining and enhancing a positive physical, emotional, and psychosocial environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally unstable, and/or volatile residents of the Company.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Licensed as a Physical Therapy Assistant in the District of Columbia in good standing.
