Transdev is Hiring a Facilities Technician I Near Garden, NY

Hiring Immediately for a Facilities Technician I. $25.6574/hourly rate Perform preventative maintenance, diagnose and repair on all building systems in various NICE Bus locations. Plant Equipment Technician Level I must be proficient and able to perform all aspects of the Plant Equipment Technician Level I position. All work performed must be of the highest quality ensuring building systems are reliable and safe. Work in such a manner that promotes a safe and productive work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs preventative maintenance on Building Systems as needed:
  • Performs inspections on all types of equipment and repair systems/parts when needed.
  • Uses preventative maintenance checklist to verify repairs.
  • Repairs and inspections involve the following: Bus lifts, Overhead Doors, Boilers, Hot Water Heaters, Pressure Washers, Pneumatic systems, lighting, & electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry, landscaping, but not limited to these items. Completely document all work performed in Maintenance Software.
  • Diagnoses and repair building systems specifically concentrating on minor to moderate problems including:Bus lifts, Overhead Doors, Boilers, Hot Water Heaters, Pressure Washers, Pneumatic systems, lighting electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry, landscaping.
  • Utilize power equipment as required: Pressure washer, scissor lifts, ladders, small engine equipment, pipe threaded, diagnostic equipment, forklift, but not limited to these items.
  • Utilize repair manuals and parts manuals for aid in making minor repairs.
  • Inspects and verifies problems on building systems using various diagnostic equipment.
  • Performs both in-house and route repairs for building systems using various hand, power, pneumatic, machine (precision) and machinery tools.
  • Cleans, repairs, and replaces building systems equipment as required.
  • Tests building systems for proper working order.
  • Work with Level 2 & 3 technicians as required providing lead experience.
  • Repairing building systems requires physical dexterity and exertion and heavy lifting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

APPROXIMATE PERCENTAGE OF TIME FOR ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs preventative maintenance on build systems as needed. 70%
  • Diagnoses and repairs various building systems, concentrating on minor to moderate problems. 20%
  • Support and assist Level 2 and 3 Technicians. 5%
  • Cleans work area. 5%

Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years recent progressive heavy equipment maintenance or four (4) years mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, pneumatic, electrical additional training from mechanical/technical schools, courses or seminars desirable.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must have a basic understanding of the design, adjustment, overhaul operation and maintenance of lift systems.
  • Must be able to work amid constant interruptions and be able to prioritize, be detail oriented and deal with time pressures.
  • Must have good communication skills and able to communicate concerns, questions and diagnostic information.
  • Must be autonomous and be self-directed.
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Must be able to take direction and instruction well.
  • Must be physically agile and able to lift up to seventy-five (75) pounds.
  • Basic 2-way radio skills required.
  • Basic tools required.
  • Must have clean driving record and be able to maintain a clean Driver's License.
  • Must be able to pass a physical examination including a drug test.

Additional Job Requirement

  • Wear uniforms, safety shoes, safety harness, safety glasses, respirator, hearing protection and all management approved safety equipment.

  • Approximately 20% of the work is performed outdoors.
  • Must be able to lift seventy-five (75) pounds.
  • Performs physical activities that require considerable use of the arms, repetitive hand-wrist motion, and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, standing, bending, and handling materials.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to heat/cold conditions.
