Position Summary

Transcat is seeking a high energy, driven, and established leader to join our team as our first Senior Director of E-Commerce and Distribution Sales. The Senior Director of E-Commerce and Distribution Sales will build and lead a team charged with developing strategy, delivering an innovative and engaging customer experience, and implementing e-commerce and marketing strategies.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced web e-commerce leader with:

  • Proven leadership skills, including the ability to independently lead a team to fulfill business goals and expectations
  • Successful business (including P&L and budget) experience, with the ability to make major business decisions independently and the judgment to know when collaboration is necessary
  • Demonstrated data analytics background
  • Passion for e-commerce, merchandising, conversion testing, optimization, and building an engaging customer experience

The Senior Director will champion a strategic technology evolution and will have a direct and significant impact on our business. This position reports to the SVP of Business Operations and is a key member of the strategic leadership team.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Model the Company’s values to influence others to perform in an aligned manner
  • Drive the creation and execution of digital marketing and e-commerce plans to deliver against overall growth goals and financial targets
  • Directly responsible for the company’s revenue and profit within the B2B channel
  • Translate business objectives, market opportunities, and product roadmaps into a cohesive go-to-market plan
  • Develop our strategic technology roadmap to evolve our company with a stronger overall digital customer experience and optimize online sales
  • Manage and grow organic search channels, create and implement strategic plans, and support content creation and management.
  • Oversee and lead the development of the vendor brand strategy along with its execution
  • Develop inventory strategy to achieve defined targets
  • Lead continuous process improvement efforts and migrate traditional sales efforts online
  • Identify opportunities for improvement of UX and new feature development to increase conversion rates and an overall better customer experience
  • Monitor overall site, sales, campaigns, content, and operations daily and recommend adjustments to drive sales and long-term customer value
  • Leverage analytics, consumer insights, and reports to identify, recommend, and implement optimizations and enhancements to the site
  • Partner with key cross-functional teams to ensure all relevant organizational goals and implications are factored into e-commerce projects.
  • Develop and execute marketing strategy across key customer interaction channels including website, email, SEO, PPC and other digital media to drive growth of both segments of our business
  • Drive our lead-generation funnel through efficient, creative, high-quality, funnel programming and content strategy to drive sales conversions
  • Ensure training and development plans are in place and communicated to employees to drive performance improvement and career progression.
  • Complete and deliver accurate, thorough, and prescriptive employee performance reviews on the required timeline
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Confident, collaborative, articulate, and creative problem-solving skills
  • Deep understanding of customer journeys to make data-led technology recommendations
  • A proven track record of leading digital marketing transformation in a fast-paced, high growth environment
  • Digital transformation and innovation mindset
  • Ability to lead through the design/build of business processes and customer facing systems and experiences
  • Product vendor management oversight
  • Ability to act as a thought leader and functional expert for direct reports and senior management

Education and Experience

  • 10 years e-commerce and digital marketing experience
  • Established business background, including P&L and budget
  • Proven track record in driving business through an e-commerce platform
  • Strong leadership skills and a proven ability to manage high performing teams and vendor relationships
  • Proven ability to build cross-functional partnerships and inspire collaboration and action
  • An effective combination of creative and analytical skills
  • Excellent presentation, written, and oral communication skills indicating an ability to communicate relevant information to team members and company leadership clearly and concisely
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated experience with e-commerce systems, functionality and integration
  • Experience with Magento or other similar e-commerce platforms
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Marketing, or related field
