Salary Range: $16.59/hr. - $19.59/hr.
Responsibilities:
  • This position will participate in the daily operations of the Animal Services Unit including: intaking and processing stray animals, conducting meet and greets with potential adopters, and processing adoption and foster paperwork.
  • This position will also oversee the Foster program and the health care of all of our animals, assist Animal Services Officers with incoming animals by examining animals for general health conditions, report any illnesses and visible injuries or abnormal behavior of the animals to the Supervisor and Director of Animal Services, prepare weekly adoption folders with vet paperwork, and input information into our chameleon software.
  • Additionally, this position will administer intake vaccinations, boosters, microchips, create treatment plans and perform any testing or administer any other medications prescribed by a Veterinarian.
  • The successful candidate must be able to control aggressive animals with proper and humane restraint.
  • Other work duties include, but are not limited to: preparing and monitoring animals during and after surgery, handling and lifting animals, scheduling vet appointments for shelter animals and foster caregivers, transporting animals to vet appointments for vet care, and clean Isolation or contagious disease kennels as needed.
  • Assist with the inventory and maintenance of medical supplies and equipment, assist with maintaining shelter cleanliness including, laundry, mopping and dishes, and other duties as assigned.
  • This position will assist the Veterinarian or shelter staff with any community vaccine, spay/neuter, microchip, or educational events.
  • Weekend hours may be occasionally required.
Qualifications:
  • Have a current veterinary technician Certification, and a minimum of 1 year experience in veterinary technician work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of this position.
  • Must have excellent written, verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills in order to interact professionally and effectively in a variety of situations.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, deal effectively with competing and changing priorities, maintain records and prepare reports.
  • Must possess a quality background which will be checked.
  • An additional questionnaire is required to be completed at the time the application is submitted.
  • A valid Driver's license is required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

  • High School diploma or GED.
