We boldly go. Job Summary:The Sr. Controls Systems Engineer works as a member of the Systems and Controls Engineering Team in the execution of embedded controls development projects. This position will work closely with the hardware, software, software test, and algorithm engineering functions.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the Systems Engineer on Residential HVAC controls engineering projects including system controls, embedded controls, user interfaces, and home automation devices
Lead requirements development, management, and verification and validation activities on assigned projects
Coordinate controls resources on each project including hardware, software, software test, and algorithm engineers to ensure execution of overall controls strategy and roadmap.
Manage the Controls Engineering schedule on assigned projects
Perform system and project risk assessments
Coordinate software feature and defect tracking, as well as periodic independent technical reviews
Serve as the engineering core team member on project cross-functional teams
Evaluate competitive products and systems
Identify opportunities and support improvements to processes, procedures, or tools
Work collaboratively with colleagues across various functions including mechanical design, operations, procurement, logistics, and customer support
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics and at least 5 years of embedded controls development experience is required.
Master's Degree is a plus.
Key Competencies:
Working knowledge of control systems, instrumentation, HMI, communication networks, and distributed networked systems.
Knowledge of various communication protocols and the various architectures and topologies associated with them
Experience with requirements management tools such as Helix ALM is a plus
HVAC knowledge is a plus
INCOSE certification is a plus
Demonstrated leadership and teaming skills especially with geographically dispersed teams
Works effectively in an open, consensus-oriented, team environment
Results-oriented with an emphasis on achieving team performance
