TRAFFIC PLANNING & DESIGN is Hiring a Land Development Engineer Near Doylestown, PA

Description

TPD is seeking a Civil Engineer to work on Land Development engineering projects. Our ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience with site civil design and applicable software applications. Projects will include various land development site designs, and other responsibilities will include research, coordination, project management, cost estimating, allowances for land disturbance, preparation of bid packages, and technical specifications.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Review of municipal subdivision and land development applications, zoning ordinances, and storm-water management rules.
  • Assisting in outside contact and communication pertaining to projects.
  • Capital improvement planning, including providing cost estimates, feasibility studies, and developing recommendations and innovative solutions.
  • Attendance at meetings and close interaction with staff, elected officials, and the community.
  • Obtaining, analyzing, and interpreting demographic and other regional transportation planning data.
  • Assisting in preparing or modifying reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, impact studies, permits, and designs for projects.
  • Reviewing construction site to monitor progress and other duties per the contract documents.
  • Serving as on-site project representative.
  • Utilize CADD Software for the design of projects. 
  • Review zoning and land development ordinances and applicable agency regulations to determine land development limitations for parcels.
  • Perform grading design, including earthwork analysis, site grading (broad and detailed), and ADA compliance.
  • Design systems, including storm-water runoff and conveyance.
  • Prepare written correspondence with outside agencies, clients, attorneys, contractors, etc. Also prepares technical reports, including drainage and site investigation reports.
  • Assist senior engineers/designers with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.
  • Prepare or guide the preparation of project specifications in coordination with design drawings.
  • Assist in the development of new standards and specifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (required)
  • Engineer in Training Certification (required) 
  • Knowledge of CADD Software (MicroStation/AutoCAD)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work on multiple projects and ability to meet multiple deadlines
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid Driver’s License

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with detail site layout and grading; drainage and storm-water management design; utility design; and erosion and sediment control design
  • Experience with StormCAD, Hydraflow, and PondPak.
  • Experience with codes and regulations, interpreting plans, designing storm-water facilities, site grading, and permitting for land disturbance
  • At least 3-5 years of site design experience.
  • General understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients and review agencies.
  • Thorough understanding of task assignments and schedules, budgeting, and efficient use of time and resources.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant CADD software.
