Traffic Planning & Design Career Center is Hiring a Transportation Design Engineer Near Asheville, NC

Our ideal candidate has minimum of 10 years of experience, a strong work ethic, a desire to learn, the willingness to work cohesively within a team, and the ability to work on multiple projects. Additionally, we offer a creative, flexible, supportive and fun environment!

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in outside contact and communication pertaining to specific projects.
  • Previous experience with NCDOT Project Delivery
  • Serve as a Project Manager and Design Task Leader
  • Capital improvement planning including providing cost estimates, feasibility studies, and developing recommendations and innovative solutions
  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams on tasks such as intersection design, traffic control, signing and pavement marking plans, profiles and grading; drainage and stormwater management design; utility design; and erosion and sediment control design.
  • Assisting in the preparation or modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, impact studies, permits, and designs for projects.
  • Reviewing construction site to monitor progress and other duties per the contract documents
  • Serving as on-site project representative.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (required)
  • EIT, FE, or PE (not required, but preferred)
  • Knowledge of CADD Software (MicroStation and OpenRoads)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work on multiple projects and ability to meet multiple deadlines
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid Driver’s License
