The Database Administrator will report to VP of Clinical Applications and Business Intelligence. This position is responsible for maintaining, securing, and operating databases and ensures that data is correctly stored and retrieved. Experience: Four or more years’ experience in database, production and on-call environments. Knowledge and Skills: Ability to build, manage and maintain databases and database processes. Ability to implement database patches and backup/recovery procedures. Proficiency in SQL, data modeling, data migrations, and software engineering principles. Working knowledge Microsoft SQL Server (both server and Azure instances) and SQL Server Management Studio Transportation: Reliable transportation. Valid and current auto insurance. Environmental and Working Conditions: Works in a routine office environment. Noise level may be moderately high. Ability to work a flexible schedule with extended hours. Ability to travel locally with some exposure to inclement weather. Physical and Mental Effort: Prolonged sitting and some standing is required. Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and agency needs. Requires excellent problem-solving skills. Essential Functions: Monitor performance of database systems resources and query throughput Creating and maintaining database standards and policies Supporting database design, creation, and testing activities Performing database housekeeping, such as tuning, indexing, etc. Ensure data requirements are clearly defined and consistent with solution objectives. Monitoring usage, transaction volumes, response times, concurrency levels, etc. Audit and ensure the SQL environment is secured according to industry secure best practices. Assist in testing back-up and recovery plans based on business continuity plan. Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems. Demonstrated willingness to learn new technologies within the Microsoft Data Fabric framework. Must be self-motivated, innovative, detail oriented and willing to fit in with a very tightknit team of professionals. Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours. Experience with Scrum and Agile methodologies. Adhere to project timelines and deliverable, effective communication of changes or disruptions to the schedule with a focus on expectation alignment. Report immediately all suspicious and hazardous conditions to a supervisor. Understand and observe all safety guidelines and assure quality and safety by complying with all appropriate policies and procedures. Assist in maintaining clean, orderly and hazard-free work areas. Able to work with minimal supervision, be a self-starter and be detail oriented. Other duties as assigned.
