Job Title: Logistics Coordinator

Department: Operations

Reports To: Logistics Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

SUMMARY

Coordinate and facilitate the delivery of shipments while working with various internal departments including; Accounting, Customer Service, Field Services, Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Production Control, Shipping, and Traffic to ensure that all sales orders are shipped on time and complete in accordance with their schedule ship date.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Run weekly building, LTL, and door schedules. Enter data into weekly shipment schedules
  • Using ERP system, print sales orders and picking tickets for distribution to production floor
  • Using ERP and TMS systems, Enter LTL information, quote LTL rates, Create bills of lading for all outbound shipments
  • Supply labels for all LTL shipments
  • Solicit for and maintain carrier rates for shipments on weekly shipment schedule.
  • Schedule carriers for daily shipment pickups
  • Call customers to notify of shipment
  • Field phone calls regarding shipment of materials, tracking shipments, etc.
  • Compile information and create reports as needed
  • Prepare paperwork for importing/exporting
  • Scan documents using DocuWare
  • Relay paperwork and order changes to the shipping floor
  • Post/Ship orders in ERP system
  • Greet truck drivers as they arrive
  • Assist with projects as needed
  • Work with carriers to address questions and resolve issues such as freight claims or delays
  • Coordinate with customer service to research shipping issues
  • Participate in process improvements/LEAN initiatives
  • Other duties may be assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; Associates degree in Business, Logistics, or Planning Management preferred; Bachelor's Degree in Operations, Planning, Logistics, Inventory Management other related business field is desired. Two to four years’ experience in a shipping or receiving environment in a manufacturing setting required; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment with multi-tasking skills and be detail oriented. Demonstrates logical and creative problem-solving techniques. Effective at both written and verbal communication. Must be able to perform in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate the flexibility to adapt to change and interruptions without losing efficiency or focus. Computer skills a must with experience in Excel, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Navision preferred. Must be able to work with diverse group of individuals.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: This position requires the ability to read and interpret documents such as spreadsheets, graphs, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. This position also requires the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. This position requires interaction with various areas such as Accounting, Customer Service, Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, Shipping, and Traffic.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Demonstrates the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division including whole numbers, fractions, and percentages. The ability to compute rate and percentage preferred.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized and non-standardized situations.
