    Hourly Rate: $20.00 Monday - Friday June 26th - August 11th
    General Statement of Duties: Operates and drives the bus to transport day campers.
    Supervision Received: Receives general supervision from the Parks & Recreation Administration Staff.
    Essential Job Functions: Drives the bus to transport day campers.Responsible for the cleanliness of the vehicle; responsible for vehicle inspection at the beginning/end of each shift, fuel fill-ups, and overall safety and security of Town vehicle. Reports vehicle defects, malfunctions immediately to the immediate supervisor and Public Works Director; advises need for vehicle maintenance; prepares reports and maintains accurate records including but not limited to destination, time, mileage, passengers, and hours worked. Regular and punctual attendance.
    Other Job Functions: May on occasion drive for other Town departments; performs related work as required.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, stand, walk, talk and hear.
    The employee must frequently lift up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration.The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    Knowledge, Skills & Ability:Skill in the operation of a variety of vehicles; knowledge of traffic laws, ordinances and rules involved in vehicle operation; knowledge of the geography of the Town of Vernon; ability to operate a cell phone; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to clearly communicate and considerable ability to understand, interact and deal with people, such as senior citizens and people that are handicapped; ability to maintain current and accurate records.
    Experience & Training: Possession and maintenance of State of Connecticut Class 2 Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger/air brake endorsement and medical examiner’s certificate. Must have and maintain a good driving record and demonstrate safe driving.
