Town of Vail is Hiring a Parking Specialist Near Vail, CO

Position Overview

Now Hiring Full-Time Parking Specialist! 

Starting at $23.50 Per Hour

Responsible for monitoring parking structures, providing world class customer service, and specializes in technician work and maintenance of the parking equipment and software. Responsibilities also extend to performing the parking attendant tasks and duties to ensure efficient operations of the parking department. Currently, the majority of summer shifts are tech oriented, and the majority of winter shifts are attendant oriented but this could change due to operational needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Perform routine maintenance of parking equipment. 
  • Understand and be able to effectively use parking software.
  • Collect parking fees and enforce parking policies. 
  • Responsible for cashier duties and ensuring transactions are accurate and efficient. 
  • Address guest complaints and inquires while offering valuable information, solutions where possible, and great customer service. Elevate and/or report the situation to a supervisor when necessary. 
  • Monitors all radio traffic, communicating with appropriate personal when necessary. 
  • Maintain cleanliness of booth, equipment, and structures. 
  • Monitor and address structures and lots for safety issues. 
  • Aid in upkeep of facilities such as cleaning, painting, and general maintenance. 
  • Address safety issues such as ice buildup, backing vehicles, etc. 
  • Shovel and throw cinders/ice melt as necessary to maintain a safe work environment and access for guests. 
  • Monitor the lots so that guests park appropriately. Report and issues to parking enforcement, especially if it is a safety concern. 
  • Assists guests with finding lost cars or personal items. 
  • Work with team to maintain traffic flow. 
  • Monitor entrances to help guests way find and access parking safely.
  • Assist with changing signs and messaging to provide good information to guests. 
  • Help maintain accurate parking counts, and road counts.
  • Work with leadership group to identify areas for improvement in day-to-day and long-term operations.
  • Ensure timely and efficient communications to leadership, vendors, and other groups to ensure equipment and software issues are addressed and resolved. 
  • Lead and ensure tasks within their specialty are completed to high standards in a timely manner. 
  • Work with leadership group to assign projects and tasks to parking attendant group. Help to set expectations, assist in project completion, and offer guidance. 
  • Knowledge and ability to handle issues in their specialty at a lead or supervisory level. 
  • Performs supervisory duties when supervisors are off duty, such as but not limited to, auditing cashiers/machines and handling guest complaints, and delegating tasks, and monitoring parker activity. 
  • Communicate and report back to supervisors to ensure efficient operations. 
  • Serve the citizens and guests of the Town of Vail by abiding by all Town of Vail core values. 
  • Perform job in accordance with all Town of Vail safety practice.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualified applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 1 year of cash handling and customer service experience required.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • 1 year of technician work preferred.
  • 1 year of leadership experience preferred.
