DescriptionTHE POSITIONWe invite you to join the high performing team at the Town of Prescott Valley, serving as our Planning Technician in the Development Services Department. This position will perform current and long-term professional planning activities related to the comprehensive plan. If you have a desire to serve the community, we encourage you to apply.
Examples of Duties
In This Position You Will
  • Conduct technical research, assess information and data, and make recommendations related to the comprehensive plan, land use controls, and capital improvements program; participate in special studies and perform functional planning activities as required.
  • Review building permit applications and subdivision applications for conformance with Regulations and Zoning Ordinances. Issue permits for fences, signs, or other permitting needs.
  • Assist with reviewing development proposals including architectural/design review, compliance with Town codes and policy, rezoning applications, conditional use requests, and variances to Town standards, with follow-up monitoring to assure compliance.
  • Assist in the design, layout and construction of maps, charts, drawings and exhibits.
Typical Qualification
Preferred Qualification
  • Planning degree from an accredited college with two (2) years of work experience in Urban Planning, building construction, code enforcement or plan review.
Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent and ability to pass a pre-employment background.
  • Knowledge of development issues and concerns, neighborhoods, public participation techniques, and the development process.
  • Extensive knowledge of principles, practices, code regulations and techniques in land use and urban planning, including new urbanism techniques and urban design.
  • Must have exceptional customer service both at the public counter and with project developers/clientele.
CompensationThe Town's complete compensation package includes salary, benefits, and a high performance culture. The Town package includes a no-cost to individual health insurance plan and a generous retirement package including participation in the Arizona State Retirement System.
The hourly range is $24.84 to $34.78.
The expected hiring range is $24.84 to $28.57.

  • Direct Deposit: Paychecks are deposited directly into the employee's bank account(s) on a bi-weekly schedule.
