 If you share these values, apply to join our team in the Town Manager’s Office. The Town Manager’s Office acts as the Chief Operating/Executive Office for the Town. This office is seeking an exceptional individual to be part of this public administration internship role. This position is varied and fluid with an excellent opportunity to balance public service with professional growth and fulfillment.
This internship position is based in the Town Manager’s office and will require developing a strong understanding of the Town of Palm Beach’s government structure and its community. Project-based initiatives have been identified for this position to develop and implement including but not limited to website design and messaging; communication and information campaigns; internal and external news communications; video messaging; strategic alignment collateral; development of education, training, and information materials for new employees, Town officials, and the community; and development of data analysis tools.
  • Website content, visual, and infrastructure design.
  • Create and execute subject-specific communications and information campaigns.
  • Scripting information for both internal and external communication platforms.
  • Development and production of video messaging. 
  • Creating an organized catalog of digital imagery.
  • Develop a coordinated and forward-thinking communication plan across various platforms.
  • Creating Strategic Planning visuals and videos to tell the story of the Plan’s action items to achieve the Plan’s milestones.
  • Coordinate development and deployment of coordinated Town design standards and materials.
  • Develop, write, and edit news releases, social media posts, and articles.
  • Develop and execute an external communications plan to advance the town’s strategic priorities.
  • Amplify key messages from other departments, such as fire and police.
  • Prepares material for high-quality internal and external publications, including a Town calendar, a new town newsletter, miscellaneous informational materials, speeches, programs, etc. 
  • Design, coordinate, and update content for the Town’s social media sites.
  • Synthesize formal material and formatting to improve digestibility. 
  • Align the strategic plan with the internal performance management system, Town Council Agenda Items, and the Budget.
  • Develop and automate tools for data analysis for the Town’s website, public meetings, public records requests, and meeting software.
  • Develop education, training, and information materials for new employees, Town officials, and the community.
  • Current or recent undergraduate or graduate student from an accredited college/university. 
  • Academic major in Public Administration, Political Science, Communication, Business, Marketing, Public Relations, English, or applicable field of study.
Interns are limited to working a maximum of 1,000 hours in any 12 months. Work schedules can be tailored to coordinate with class schedules and/or school breaks, however, the individual must have the ability to work at least 10 hours per week between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with other employees and superiors within the Department, as well as other departments in the Town.
  • Excellent organization skills and ability to prioritize workload.
