Position Information:

The Public Works team is seeking a Seasonal Technician for the Streets Department. The position offers a great opportunity for professional growth and development within the Streets Division and the Town of Holly Springs. This is a temporary position that will not exceed more than 1,000 hours within the fiscal year. The work schedule is Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm, with occasional evenings and weekends. The hourly rate is $20/hour.

What you will bring to our Public Works Team as Seasonal Streets Technician:

• Position requires a high school diploma.
• Experience working in a team environment.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and cooperating departments.
• Valid NC Driver’s License
• General experience in maintenance, landscaping, utility, or construction activities.
• Knowledge of safety practices and protocols associated with working in a maintenance or construction field.
• Ability to accurately follow written and oral instructions.

What you will be doing:

• Performing maintenance and repair of streets and town-maintained roads, street and traffic sign maintenance and installation, grounds maintenance, tree trimming, street sweeping, and snow removal.
• Use of power equipment including zero turn mowers, tractor mowers, street sweepers, weed eaters, edger, blowers, chain saws, line stripers, etc.
• Traffic control deployment.
• Debris removal within roadway as needed.
• Inspecting subdivisions for needed maintenance and site distance clearing. 
• Operating light and medium duty vehicles, trailers, and equipment.
• Special event preparation.
• Aiding in snow removal efforts as necessary.
