Town of Holly Springs is Hiring a Parks & Recreation Program Assistant Near Holly Springs, NC

Holly Springs Parks & Recreation is seeking a creative and enthusiastic candidate to join the team as the Program Assistant. This position will work as a member of the Leisure Programs team to assist with the planning and execution of Parks & Recreation programs and activities for the Holly Springs community.

The Program Assistant will report directly to the Recreation Program Supervisor. The work schedule is normal business hours, with some nights and weekends required. Annual salary starting at $48,282.67.

Essential functions of the position:

  • Work as a member of the leisure programming team to assist in planning, coordinating, and managing Parks & Recreation activities and events for the community.
  • Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives for program service delivery.
  • Prepare and maintain written records and reports on program operation and evaluation.
  • Assist with scheduling and recruiting personnel and volunteers to support programming.
  • Assist in the development of marketing materials for leisure programs and activities.

Education and Experience:

  • Completed coursework from an accredited college or university in recreation, or a closely related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license
  • CPR/First Aid certification

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position may be considered.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of safety practices and procedures as applied to recreational programs and special events.
  • Ability to establish and maintain accurate records of assigned operations.
  • Skill in organizational and time management to prioritize duties while adapting to constant changes in priority.
  • Ability to apply sound judgment and discretion in performing duties, resolving problems, and interpreting policies and regulations.
  • Experience with software applications including MS Office, JotForm, Sign-Up Genius, Canva or Adobe Illustrator, and Civic Plus.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both in written and verbal form.
  • Ability to work independently as well as on a team.

Additional Requirements:

Requires drug test and background check prior to employment to include criminal check, education verification and credit check.
