General Summary
The IT Technician"s role is to assist in managing in-house computer hardware and software systems and network connections to ensure high levels of availability and security of the supported business applications for all municipal departments. Job Responsibilities

1.
Manage electronic communications and connection
solutions, including workstation connectivity, local area networks, Town Web
site, intranet, and Internet applications.
2.
Install and configure appropriate software and functions
according to specifications.
3.
Support users on how to operate new software and
computer equipment.
4.
Ensure the integrity and security of enterprise data on
host computers, multiple databases, and during data transfer in accordance with
business needs and industry best-practices regarding privacy, security, and
regulatory compliance.
5.
Install and manage workstations, printers, scanners,
firewalls, encryption systems, all host security systems, phones systems, and CH22.
6.
Detect? diagnose and troubleshoot problems? related to
hardware? software or organizational activities. Escalate incidents as
necessary.
7.
Analyze system, application, network, and input/output
device performance.
8.
Recommend, schedule, and perform software and hardware
improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, and/or purchases.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
·
Experience of working with computer systems and
networks, including Microsoft Windows.
·
Understanding of local area network
administration.
·
Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting
experience.
·
Strong diagnostic and problem solving skills
·
Strong communication? organizational and
time-management skills
·
Certifications in the technology field and/or
equivalent job experience are preferred.
·
Hold a valid driver"s license.
·
Degree in Computer Science? Information
Technology or other relevant area a plus Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
IT Technician - 1.
Working technical knowledge of network, PC, and
platform operating systems, including Microsoft Windows.
2.
Working knowledge of current systems software,
protocols, and standards.
3.
Understanding of local area network administration.
4.
Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting
experience.
5.
Experience documenting and maintaining configuration
and processing information.
6.
Highly self-motivated and self-directed.
7.
Keen attention to detail.
8.
Skilled at working alone or within a team-oriented,
collaborative environment. Physical Requirements
The employee is
frequently required to sit for extended periods, talk, and hear. Dexterity
of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to
handle other computer components. Occasional inspection of cables in floors and
ceilings. Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as
computers and peripherals. Specific vision requirements
include close and distance vision.
