The Town of Glocester, RI, seeks a Building Official responsible for the supervision and enforcement of the state building code and local ordinances relating to buildings, zoning, trailers, campgrounds, minimum housing and other matters which come under the official’s jurisdiction pursuant to statute or ordinance.
Candidates must have at least five (5) years’ experience in construction, design, or related supervision, and be generally informed on the quality and strength of building materials, the accepted requirements of building construction, good practice in fire prevention, the accepted requirements regarding light and ventilation, the accepted requirements for safe exit facilities, and the equipment essential for the safety, comfort, and convenience of occupants.
The successful candidate should be state certified and possess an international code council (ICC) certification as a certified building official (CBO) or be a building official holding a current state certification issued prior to July 1, 2010. Salary to $73,000 depending on experience.
