TOWN OF FLOWER MOUND is Hiring a Senior Maintenance Worker - Utility Operations Near Flower Mound, TX

Under direct supervision, performs various wastewater treatment plant operation and maintenance tasks•Assists in the general maintenance and operation of the wastewater treatment plant equipment to include pumps, valves, electric motors, filters, electrical switch gear, and meters.
•Collects water and wastewater samples as directed.
•Loads and unloads supplies and chemicals from trucks, tankers, and other transport containers.
•Assists operators and mechanics in the cleaning and repair of tanks, basins, reservoirs, and associated equipment. May also take the lead in certain preventive maintenance tasks.
•Informs supervisor of all problems, deviations, hazards, unfamiliar situations, and all work activities.
•Operates various light to heavy construction equipment and tools to include tractors; backhoes; dump trucks; jack hammers; air compressors; trenchers; earth compactors; weed trimmers; mowers; vehicles; and other pneumatic, electrical, or hydraulic powered hand tools.
•Performs general housekeeping of building interiors to include sweeping, mopping, dusting, hosing, vacuuming, emptying refuse containers, cleaning windows, cleaning counter tops and other hard surfaces, and cleaning restrooms.
•Performs general housekeeping of building exteriors, tanks, and basins to include brushing, hosing, and spraying surfaces to remove growth buildup of aquatic vegetation and insect nestings.
•Observes vendors working within assigned water sites to ensure compliance with project specifications and protection of Town assets.
•Assists with other special projects and tasks as directed.
•Adheres to personnel, safety, and department policies and procedures.
•Performs other duties as assigned.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
•A High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required.
•Must be able to complete and pass the written test for a valid Texas CDL “A” Driver’s License with airbrakes and with proper endorsements within 90 days of hire. Must provide proof of your scheduled driving test appointment with the Texas Department of Public Safety to your supervisor within 90 days of hire. Your driving record must be in compliance with Town policy.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
•Related utility operation, equipment operation, or plant operation experience is preferred.
Must submit to and pass a post-offer, non-regulated drug test and thorough background checks (including criminal history).KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
•Must be able to read and interpret basic engineering plans.
•Must have skills in operating heavy to light construction equipment and in using small power tools and equipment in a safe and proper manner.
•Must be able to maintain an effective and pleasant working relationship with employees, contractors, and the general public.
•Must be able to work extensive hours, or various work shifts as needed.

•Must be able to talk, read, see, walk, hear, and follow oral and written directives.
•Must have good hand/foot/eye coordination to operate and repair equipment and vehicles.
•Must be able to perform strenuous physical activities to include, exerting up to 100 lbs. of pressure; lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying heavy supplies and equipment several times a day; shoveling, crawling, bending, kneeling, and digging holes for several hours per day; climbing on and off equipment; and operating vibrating equipment.
•Must be able to work indoors, underground, outdoors, in confined spaces, in pipes, culverts, manholes, and trenches; on level, slippery, sloping, unstable, and muddy terrain; under constantly noisy conditions; work in adverse environmental conditions to include inclement weather such as rain, sleet, snow, heat, sun exposure, and hazardous conditions including mechanical, electrical, fume odor, dust/mist, chemical, and toxic waste hazards and other solid waste substances; and exposure to insects, noxious plants, and snakes.
