The Town of Falmouth is seeking a full-time Maintenance Worker for our Marine & Environmental Services (MES) Department. This position works 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hours may vary by season, and some weekend and holiday work may be required.

Under the direction of the Deputy MES Director, the MES Maintenance Worker performs skilled manual work to maintain and repair the MES facilities and equipment, including the docks, boat ramps, floats, moorings, navigation aids, herring runs, markings, signs, upwellers, trails, buildings, and structures. This position also schedules and/or conducts all required preventative maintenance for the MES vehicles and vessels and may perform custodial duties for the MES building. To complete the wide variety of required maintenance and repairs, the MES Maintenance Worker performs electrical, plumbing, painting, and carpentry work, makes mechanical and small engine repairs, operates light trucks and various hand and power tools, and may perform welding.

This position also assists other MES positions as needed, such as assisting the Animal Control Officer and the Police Department with animal-related calls, including deer-strike removal, acting as an Assistant Harbormaster and/or Deputy Shellfish Warden with associated enforcement duties, and assisting the Beach Department with the installation and removal of swim area buoys.

The MES Maintenance Worker has frequent contact with the general public and other Town employees and primarily works outdoors on the water or in the field.

Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent and two years of general maintenance experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Plumbing, carpentry, and electrical knowledge and skills preferred. 

Must have a valid class D license and the ability to operate a motor vehicle. Must have the ability to obtain a Lift Truck Certificate and the rabies series.

Starting Wage: Step 1 ($23.15/hour) - Step 3 ($25.04/hour) with room for advancement along the 7-step pay scale, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Comprehensive benefits and some overtime opportunities.
