The Falmouth Fire Rescue Department is seeking highly motivated individuals for full-time Firefighter/EMT and Firefighter/Paramedic positions to provide fire, rescue, and EMS services to our community. Successful candidates will demonstrate their commitment to our Town, residents, and Department. Falmouth Fire Rescue is a progressive organization with a long and distinguished history of dedication, training, and pride. No firefighting experience is necessary, as we provide on-the-job training; however, applicants must be a certified Massachusetts EMT.

Summary of Duties: Firefighter/EMTs and Firefighter/Paramedics have dual roles in the department, with responsibility for both fire suppression and varying degrees of emergency medical care.Depending on the nature of the incident, our personnel provide extrication and rescue, fire suppression or hazard control, and administer emergency medical care.This position is technical in nature and requires the ability to interact with the public, extinguish fires, mitigate hazardous incidents, assess and treat medical emergencies, and follow treatment protocols. Work is usually carried out under stressful conditions with potential for exposure to serious illnesses/injuries and environmental and chemical hazards.This is not an exhaustive list of the duties expected of all fire personnel, but only an overview of the daily expectations of the position.

Starting Pay: $28.20 - $30.81/hour. Comprehensive benefits and overtime opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications:

• At least 18 years of age at the time of application.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Massachusetts driver’s license.
• Must possess, at minimum, a Massachusetts EMT certification.
• Non-user of tobacco or tobacco products.
• If a conditional offer of employment is extended, candidates must then pass a thorough background and CORI check, pre-employment medical exam, pre-employment psychological exam, pre-employment drug test screening, and Physical Ability Test (PAT).
• If hired, new recruits are required to attend and successfully complete the 10-week Massachusetts Firefighting Academy.
• Must be able to work variable shifts, including shifts that require 24 hours, or more, of consecutive duty during holidays, emergencies, mobilization, natural disasters, and when additional staffing is needed.

Additional Consideration Will Be Given To:

• Qualifying U.S. military veterans.
• Falmouth residents.
• Applicants who possess a Massachusetts Paramedic (EMT-P) certification. This certification number and date should be entered on the application under Licenses and Certifications.
• Applicants who possess a current Pro Board Firefighter I/II Certification.
