Town of Cramerton Parks and Recreation is Hiring a Special Events and Programs Supervisor Near Cramerton, NC

SPECIAL EVENTS AND PROGRAMS SUPERVISOR

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Develops, plans, promotes, all town sponsored community events, festivals, programs, and assists community groups in planning events and festivals that are held on town-owned property. Develop non-athletic programming for all ages. Supervises seasonal and part-time personnel. Work is performed under the Parks and Recreation Director.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The employee in this class is responsible for the general administration, development, organizing, and coordinating of special events, programs and interest levels within the Town.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

· Plans, directs, and promotes all town sponsored special events and programs for various age groups.

· Assist in the planning and implementation of community events and activities that are held by outside organizations and held on town owned property.

· Plans, organizes, and promotes all non-sports related programs, camps, and classes for various age groups.

· Publicizes upcoming events and programs through all forms of media, including the Town’s website, newspapers, television, radio, newsletter, print, and social media.

· Will be in charge of all design and creation of Parks and Recreation flyers.

· Participates in active public relations programs, attends community group meetings and social functions.

· Establishes and adheres to policies with respect to event inventory, registration of vendors, collections of fees, safety and insurance requirements, and employee scheduling.

· Inventories all special event supplies and insures proper maintenance and storage.

· Prepares annual event and pool schedule.

· Train special event employees and lifeguards.

· Evaluates special events and programs.

· Recommends improvements for special events and programs.

· Serves as on-site department representative at all special events.

· Prepares special event locations and insures all areas are adequately prepared.

· Opens and closes facilities.

· Performs other tasks as required by the Parks and Recreation Director.

JOB RELATED PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS: This job involves some heavy work requiring the employee to exert in excess of 50 pounds of force occasionally and less force frequently to move objects. Physical activity related to this position may include climbing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions. Sufficient visual acuity is required to use measurement devices, prepare and analyze data and figures.

An employee in this position will be exposed to indoor and outdoor environmental conditions throughout the year including extreme heat and cold.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of event planning. Ability to plan, organize, and implement town-sponsored community events, classes, and programs to serve youth and adults. Ability to establish and maintain and a working relationship with other city officials, employees, general public, businesses and organizations; ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with subordinates; ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms.

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: A minimum of two years’ experience in special events and programming and a four-year degree from an accredited college or university with a major in recreation, physical education, sports management, or related field; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge.

SALARY: $40,000-$50,000
