What’s The Role?
Working as a Procurement Specialist, you can expect to follow established policies and procedures; administer contracts; review and/or administer standing purchase orders and contracts for time frames, re-bid and recommend renewal or extension; negotiate with vendors to obtain best possible prices and/or terms and conditions. Conduct interviews with vendors to obtain information on new products and commodity trends. Expedite the delivery of items; follow up on orders and resolve problems concerning damaged goods, failure to deliver on time or incorrect merchandise; resolve problems in billing and payment. Review requisitions for completeness; group items to facilitate bids on larger quantities; prepare specifications and other necessary documents to solicit bids and request for proposals from vendors by satisfying all competitive bidding requirements; perform audits on internal purchase orders; coordinate the sale of surplus goods. Compile and analyze bid results; assist the Procurement Manager in making recommendation to the Board of Mayor and Alderman and Department Directors. Determine appropriate sources of supply; obtain bids by verbal and written quote, personal contact, formal and informal bid procedures; analyze bids and quotes; maintain updated bid and quote files and lists. Perform other related duties as required.
