Town of Christiansburg, VA is Hiring a Lifeguard (Part-Time) Near Christiansburg, VA

Work is performed under the direction of the Lifeguard Supervisor. The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies and assisting with aquatic programs and pool operations.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS• Safeguards, monitors, and regulates conduct of pool patrons; enforces aquatic and facility policies, rules and regulation while maintaining current, industry-standard safety protocols• Provides customer service to patrons, including handling customer conflict and complaints as necessary in a prompt, effective and courteous manner• Assists in accident prevention planning/risk management• Recognizes and responds to rescues and performs appropriate follow-up procedures, including proper use of equipment in performing first aid• Maintains aquatic rescue/first aid equipment as needed• Perform weekly conditioning sessions to maintain endurance/fitness level, strength, and speed• Conducts swimming tests with children• Helps ensure proper sanitary operation of pool, pool area & locker rooms• Assist key staff in pool set-up for organized events, including movement of bulkheads and pool lane configuration• Prepares and maintains daily records• Provides guidance to less experienced lifeguards during shift• Attends in-service training and additional staff training as necessary• Other duties as assigned
