Town Of Cary is Hiring a LEAD SOFTBALL INSTRUCTOR Near Cary, NC

Are you passionate about educating, motivating, and inspiring young players to excel in softball? Join our Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources team as a Lead Softball Instructor! We are seeking dedicated coaches who can lead, motivate, and instruct youth aged 5-18 in hitting, fielding, and pitching skills.

This is a part-time, non-benefited, year-round position, up to 20 hours a week, with a maximum of 999 hours per year. Work will require a flexible schedule including weekend and evening work.
  • Leads and assists in softball camps, clinics, and one-on-one lessons for youth ages 5-18, focusing on hitting, fielding, and pitching.
  • Designs, implements, and evaluates new softball programs.
  • Prepares lesson plans and teaching manuals for all scheduled activities.
  • Supervises and leads other instructors during larger clinics and camps.
  • Motivates support staff to provide exceptional service to patrons.
  • Interacts responsibly with parents, students, co-workers, and the public, ensuring participant safety and an enjoyablerecreational experience.
  • Develops and plans hitting/fielding and pitching components of camps and clinics.
  • Performs other job-related tasks as required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of softball skills. 
  • Effective communication with individuals and groups, including parents and participants. 
  • Strong time management skills. 
  • Ability to lead and motivate staff to provide high-level service. 
  • Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate successful training sessions for softball skills. 
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions for extended periods.
Education and ExperienceRequires either 1 year of softball playing experience at a collegiate level or 1 year of coaching at the high school varsity level. 
Experience running softball camps or coaching at the high school varsity level preferred.
CPR/First Aid Certification preferred.

Physical RequirementsRequires the ability to lift or move moderately heavy items such as equipment bags, pitching machines, and related equipment.

Conditions of EmploymentRequires a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
Requires drug testing and background check (which may include criminal check, education verification and credit history review) prior to employment.
