Description
Do you enjoy vehicle and equipment maintenance and have a passion for doing so with excellent customer service? Come join Cary as a Fleet Maintenance Intern where you can build upon your formal automotive education with practical experience. This internship will focus on the maintenance and repair of Cary fleet vehicles and equipment. Interns will have the opportunity to explore the fleet management industry by taking part in daily shop operations and experiencing best management practice plans that could be used in many locations. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor.
Typical Tasks
Hands-on experience and exposure to fleet maintenance and repair procedures;
Performs general preventative maintenance, minor repairs, equipment maintenance, and some fabrication work on all facets of Cary's fleet including Police and Fire equipment;
Performs other job-related tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

General knowledge of the operation of motor vehicles; General knowledge of vehicle service; ability to perform minor troubleshooting; ability to detect by inspection any worn or broken parts; ability to keep records of parts and time for repairs and service operations; ability to utilize fleet database to access work orders; ability to follow oral and written instruction accurately.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications

Must possess a valid driver license with an acceptable driving record.
Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Requires enrollment in or recent graduation from a Automotive Technology or equivalent program. Recent graduation is defined as graduation less than 12 months prior to the start of the internship.
Requires drug testing and background check (which may include criminal check, education verification and credit history review) prior to employment.
