The Town of Brewster is seeking applications for the position of a Laborer or a CDL Driver/Skilled Laborer for the Department of Public Works. The position performs semi-skilled and skilled manual work supporting construction, general operation and maintenance, and repair projects undertaken by the DPW.
Laborer duties include but are not limited to; performs landscaping duties, including mowing, weed whacking, and tree trimming for Town properties; catch basin cleaning, asphalt repairs including cold patching, and general maintenance of roadways; participates in snow & ice operations, and operates a variety of equipment, hand tools and machinery. The CDL Driver/Skilled Laborer duties also include operating a variety of light and heavy equipment to support construction projects, and operating CDL vehicles or equipment to transport equipment and/or materials to various locations.
High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of one year experience in grounds or roadway maintenance preferred, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. CDL license holders should have a verifiable clean driving record and a minimum of three years in vehicle and equipment operations. This is a full-time 40 hour a week position covered under the SEIU bargaining agreement with pay range of $23.60 - $31.62 per hour, starting pay depending on qualifications, experience, and licenses.
