Certified Peer Specialist – Intentional Communities

Starting Pay: $20.00 to $22.00 based on qualifications

Location: Minneapolis (Seward neighborhood) 

Schedule: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays - 20 hours per week

The Certified Peer Specialist – Intentional Communities assists with community meetings and coordinates activities that promote socialization for community members living in Hennepin County. 

Certified Peer Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Establish supportive and motivational relationships with community members, and coach community members to utilizing coping strategies.
  • Perform behavioral management interventions and de-escalate mental health crisis.
  • Meet with community members individually or in small groups on a weekly basis. 
  • Complete assessments and develop goals that can be included in care plans. 
  • Plan and promote participation in activities along with providing support and prompts that promote socialization.
  • Assist community members with facilitating community meetings and maintaining community spaces.
  • Safely transport community members to community meetings and other activities.
  • Maintain records in an electronic health record (Credible).
  • Collaborate with other staff members, consultants, interns, and/or volunteers. 

Certified Peer Specialist Requirements:

  • Must be a certified peer specialist as defined by MN Department of Human Services.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Experience planning and facilitating activities for groups strongly preferred.
  • Experience as a peer specialist strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting adults with mental illness or co-occurring disorders preferred.
