MAJOR FUNCTION:

To provide skilled labor to install, repair, overhaul, replace, remodel and perform preventive maintenance for production machinery and equipment, building facilities, and grounds in order to improve efficiency and minimize downtime.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:

Routine maintenance equipment used such as test meters, power and hand tools, ladders, scaffolds, etc. Operates forklift, manlifts, welding machineetc. as needed.

MATERIALS:

Metals (Stainless Steel, Carbon Steel, Aluminum), Plastics (CPVC, PVC, Lexan), Wood, Rubber and other special materials as required. 

SOURCE OF SUPERVISION:

Supervised by Maintenance Supervisor. Guidance provided by assigned Lead.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install, repair, overhaul, and maintain basic electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and/or electro-mechanical machinery and equipment.
  • Observe and test operation of electrical, electro-mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and/or mechanical devices in order to evaluate and identify operating problems.
  • Install and evaluate replacement components in order to affect in-house repairs and/or modify machinery and equipment to improve efficiency.
  • Dismantle equipment and machinery in order to identify, remove, repair and/or replace damaged or deteriorated components, and reassemble equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance for facilities, fixtures, equipment and machinery. Preventive Maintenance includes but is not limited to repair/replacement of electrical wires/connections, soldering, replacement of bulbs and other electronic/electrical components, cleaning and lubrication of moving mechanical parts, cleaning of filters and adjustment of air and fluid pressure levels, recalibration of controls and measuring devices, adjustments of screws/coils and other components, and maintenance of additional systems and components as appropriate.
  • Maintain maintenance logs and other required documentation.
  • Develop additional technical skills and knowledge of electro-mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical principles, maintenance and repair practices.
  • Develop familiarity with ergonomics and production and assembly processes in order to evaluate process efficiency and develop modifications to improve efficiency.
  • Maintain work area in a neat, clean and orderly condition.
  • Maintains good housekeeping practices, follows all safety rules and abides by all applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations as well as policies and procedures of TOTO.
  • Must be able to work 12 hour rotating shift 
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends
    NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist with training as needed.
  • Acquiring and developing additional capabilities and technical knowledge of electronic, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electro-mechanical maintenance and repair.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
    High school diploma or GED with two (2) year certificate from an applicable technical school in electricity or mechanics. Must have at least three (3) years of experience in the maintenance of industrial equipment and machinery. Equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable. Must also have working knowledge of basic electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic concepts and operating safety. Basic operating knowledge of relay and programmable controllers for mechanical equipment. Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, diagrams, schematics, engineering specifications and operating instructions. Also demonstrated ability to use hand and power tools commonly used in the electrical and mechanical trades.
     
    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to raise, manipulate and maneuver tools, components and materials weighing up to 100 pounds or heights of 48 inches above floor level as many as 5 times per day.
  • Must be able to work in restricted spaces in order to access machinery and equipment components and undercarriages.
  • Must be able to descend/ascend from kneeling position as many as 30 times per day while working on production equipment and machinery.
  • Must have sufficient visual acuity to properly place and align components and must be able to accurately distinguish colors in order to identify, trace and match color-coded wires and components.
  • Must have sufficient auditory acuity with or without audiological appliances to identify appropriate and inappropriate machinery sounds and thereby determine the location of defective bearings and other damaged or deteriorating moving mechanical parts.
