The Shop Technician/Fabricator is responsible for completing Generator/Engine customization, Sub-Assemblies and day to day operations in the shop.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Completing customization of generators and engines
2. Completing sub-assemblies
3. General Building Maintenance
4. Electrical and Mechanical work
5. Perform Planned Maintenance on power generator equipment, load banks and any other equipment
6. Testing of engines and generators with proper equipment
7. Other duties as assigned
Skills/Abilities/Requirements/Experience:
1. Ability to use overhead crane
2. Knowledge of hand and power tools
3. Ability to operate forklifts
4. Ability to fabricate and weld
5. Able to use a variety of tools and test equipment
6. Written and verbal fluency in English
7. Ability to multi-task, establish priorities and meet deadlines, maintain a flexible attitude and approach towards assignments, and maintain level of organization in a changing and fast paced environment
8. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions finished in written or oral diagram form
9. Able to work overtime –
a. Normal hours:
i. Monday-Thursday 6:45 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
ii. Friday 6:45 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.
10. Knowledge in A/C and D/C Electrical
11. Knowledge on the basic workings of a diesel engine
12. Valid Driver’s License
Physical Demands
1. Sitting for long periods of time with some walking, stooping, bending, and reaching
2. Frequent pushing and pulling of objects
3. Dexterity to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists
4. Movement by holding, turning, and grasping of objects
5. Reaching by extending hands in any direction
6. Feeling temperature, shape or texture by means of senses in skin
7. Ability to drive a car
8. Regular lifting and/or moving up to 75 pounds
9. Ability to hear normal conversations on phone or in person
10. Ability to see more than 20 feet
11. Ability to see color and see/read computer screen
Work Environment
1. Work will be performed in our shop or outdoors
2. Exposure to engine testing labs. Noise level ranges from moderate to very loud
3. Limited exposure to the warehouse. Limited exposure to temperature variations when shipping doors are open
4. Regular exposure to vibration, fumes, gases, and proximity to moving mechanical parts
5. Handling of potentially dangerous chemicals or other substances, dangerous equipment, and tools
6. Work produced is subject to precise measures of quality and quantity
Tools and Equipment
1. Computer and other general office equipment
2. Eye and ear protection required while working on engines
3. Basic hand tools
4. Power tools (electric, pneumatic)
5. Welder/Plasma Cutter
