Financial Analyst Position

The Financial Analyst is responsible for managing and analyzing the financial operations and performance of the credit union. This role will directly impact strategic decision-making, financial planning, and the long-term success of the organization. It includes working closely with the accounting team and executive leadership to provide insights and recommendations based on financial data. 

Specific tasks may include auditing, accounting, budget preparation, income forecasts, and operational changes as needed. Finance and accounting functions may include assistance in the following areas: ALM, AP, AR, audits, budgets, collections, GL, financial analysis, financial reporting, risk management, investments, payroll, purchasing, taxes, treasury, and vendor management. 

The right candidate will successfully collaborate cross-functionally with accounting, lending, operations, and member services, to achieve financial goals and enhance operational efficiency. The Financial Analyst will actively search for opportunities to improve the financial position of the credit union, reduce financial risk, and detect potential beneficial investments. They will analyze and optimize operational costs and make recommendations to improve cost efficiency. Experience in preparing and presenting monthly financial reports, potentially including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements to the board of directors and senior management is necessary. Participation in the development of strategic plans and initiatives based on financial analysis and market trends will be required.

Requirements

Education

· A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required. 

· A minimum of 3 years of experience in financial analysis, preferably in a credit union, banking, or financial services industry. 

· Previous experience within a credit union or bank is highly preferred.

Desired Skills

· Thorough understanding of GAAP, finance regulations, profitability analysis, and modeling. 

· Strong proficiency in financial modeling, data analysis, and use of financial software. 

· Savvy computer skills including proficiency in database and accounting systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 

· Excellent verbal communication and presenting skills. 

· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, tax documents, general ledgers, and legal documents.

· Ability to understand external economic conditions.

· Ability to speak effectively before groups of members, employees, and regulatory agencies. 

· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

· Ability to make decisions, act, and accept responsibility for results.

· Ability to act appropriately and professionally in any situation.

· Ability to operate general office machinery and equipment such as photocopier, fax machine, computers, laptops, and telephones.
