Topco Associates is Hiring a Packaging Operations Supervisor (Hybrid) Near Itasca, IL

Overview

Topco Associates is currently seeking a Packaging Operations Supervisor for the Brand Management & Packaging Operations team in Itasca, IL. This position will be a hybrid role, with the successful candidate conducting work in our Itasca office three times per week and virtual twice per week.

Topco Associates, LLC is a cooperative of nearly 50 of the nation’s regional grocery retailers and wholesalers that are our member-owners. Celebrating its 79th anniversary in 2023, Topco aggregates Own Brand volume and expertise for over 15,000 grocery stores. The Brand Management Team is responsible for championing the creation and growth of $3 Billion in Retail Own Brand Dollars including brands such as Food Club, Simply Done, TopCare, Full Circle Market, Crav’n Flavor, Cornershop Cuts Delicatessen and Basket & Bushel.

Topco’s Own Brand Management & Packaging Services Team leads the brand identity strategy and management of the Topco Own Brands Portfolio including design direction and execution of all product packaging to support achieving our members overall business objectives and corporate initiatives along with maintaining a positive corporate reputation in the market. This team functions as the blueprint for building strong equity with the brands within the portfolio and stewards of the brands. 

Under the direction of the Director, Brand Management & Packaging Services, the Packaging Operations Supervisor will be responsible for the execution Topco Own Brand and select Member brands packaging services for label design. This position also manages the Packaging Services Specialist. 

Responsibilities

  • Acts as steward of assigned brands; supports the brand promise, brand vision, brand positioning, brand architecture, and achieves overall short-term and long-term business goals.
  • Supports the building and management of the Department’s Center of Brand Excellence Strategy which includes annual planning and management of key initiatives, process mapping and documentation, and system reporting and tools.
  • Acts as a point of contact and lead for internal requests to expedite packaging projects. Ensures Senior Leadership is aligned with the requests and coordinates with the Packaging Services Agency to realign priorities, where needed.
  • Supervise the day-to-day abilities of the Brand Operations Traffic Specialist.

  • Acts as a point of contact and lead for the team’s processes and procedures for ensuring effective and efficient workflow and collaboration across the organization and with key stakeholders.
  • Manages the department’s shared drive and collaboration tools to ensure efficient workflows and files sharing.
  • Coordinates with Brand Identity team and Integrated Marketing team to ensure all brand identity materials are displayed and properly stored on any internal and asset management tools.
  • Manages the administration and planning of the Own Brand Management key strategic meetings on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Supports Brand Operations Manager on operations, project, and traffic related follow up with internal or external stakeholders as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

    Education:

    • BA/BS in Marketing, General Business or related field or equivalent experience.

    Technical skills:

    • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite required
    • Ability to organize information and make presentations to peers/management
    • Experience performing business analysis and reporting data to identify issues, trends, or exceptions
    • Experience using time management skills to prioritize deliverables and project components to meet deadlines of multiple projects

    Previous Experience:

    • 5 years of relevant work experience within Retail, Marketing, or CPG
    • Experience with workflow database systems
    • 3-5 years of experience managing time sensitive and detailed projects.

    • Energetic and passionate about consumers, brands, and marketing
    • Ability to work under pressure
