Tompkins Cortland Community College is Hiring a Laboratory Technician, Biology & Chemistry Near New York, NY

EMPLOYMENT DATE: Spring 2024 – 03/15/24-05/17/24

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Part-time up to 15 hours per week. Possible renewal for future semesters.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Lab Technicians will be expected to:

  • Create and manage equipment inventory
  • Maintain equipment, including repair and requisition as needed
  • Complete supply and material orders
  • Set up lab activities according to instructor’s plan
  • Clean up lab activities
  • Manage safety culture, including posting procedures and policies
  • Hire and coordinate student workers
  • Be able to operate and train tutors/faculty as needed on equipment/software
  • Work in a team and communicate effectively with instructors, tutors, student workers, and supervisors
  • Attend Lab Technician meetings

For up to 15 hours per week, the Biology and Chemistry Lab Technician will also be expected to:

  • Prepare chemical solutions for lab activities
  • Assist students in borrowing equipment (sign in/out through ALMA)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have experience with the relevant equipment and materials, and must have a strong recommendation from TC3 faculty or previous employer.

EXPECTED HIRING SALARY RANGE:

Para-Professional hourly rate of $22.16/hour.

Additionally, maintaining New York State residency will be required for the duration of employment.
